West Africa and the Europeans Since the 15th Century: Essays in Honour of Patience Okwuchi Erim discusses and analyses the character and dynamics of interaction between West Africa and the Europeans from the mid-fifteenth century to present. Premium is given to diverse factors and motivations that launched, expanded and sustained Europe's interac-tion with West Africa as well as the short- and long- term impact of European activities in West Africa. Drawing on and reflecting the best traditions of Africanist scholarship, the essays in this volume will promote lively discussions among scholars while deepening their understanding of West African history, especially her relations with various shades of Europeans in the long term. The vast array of issues discussed in this book are germane to understanding the past and contemporary dialogue between West Africa and Europe.

His research interest is on Inter-Group Relations, Gender Issues, Nation-Building and Democratization in Nigeria.Amalu, Nneka S.Nneka Sophie Amalu is a lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies, University of Calabar, Nigeria. She is the Recipient of the Research Award for Sustainable Agriculture and Biotechnology 2016/2017 from Support Africa International, Germany.
