Full Description
This breathtaking coffee table book brings together the most outstanding images of New York, captured by a wide variety of photographers, each with their own style and individual perspective on the city. The result is a comprehensive, unique portrait of the Big Apple spanning several decades.
The book is introduced by a brief text about New York and life there, and each chapter is dedicated to a photographer and includes a short biography along with a series of images. The photographers featured lived in the city at different times, each with a different background and an individual style of visual language. The unique black and white photographs by photographic icon Elliott Erwitt meet impressive contemporary testimonies by the well-known photojournalist Thomas Hoepker. Atmospheric imagery by bad weather photographer Christophe Jacrot is juxtaposed with Phil Penman, who reveals the vulnerability of the Big Apple in intimate moments.
Text in English and German.
