Under the title "Akademie [Arbeitstitel]," professors and students of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, the University of Fine Arts Münster and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne were invited to grapple with the broad topic of "archive" within the scope of the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf's 50-year anniversary celebrations. As the term "Arbeitstitel" (working title) suggests, the idea was to create an experimental format with open outcomes, inspired by the legendary "between" series from the end of the 1960s. The exhibition unfolded over a period of 16 weeks, during which around 100 alternating projects were shown. The catalogue, with 2,300 illustrations, offers an overview of the range, diversity and rhythm of the artistic works, projects and spacial constellations presented.
