The publication presents 31 portraits by the photographer Albrecht Fuchs of artists who exhibited and realised performances at Kölnischem Kunstverein between 2014 and 2018. The meticulously composed colour portraits fit both seamlessly and complementarily in Fuchs' long-term series of portraits. They are marked by the same aura, characterised by a strange tension. Fuchs faces his sitters with a mixture of respectful distance and empathy. "A tense calm radiants from all of the pictures, a strange intensity and concentration, as if the people in them were thinking in that very moment of the secret that makes them who they are - and it is proof of this photographer's elegance that he does not attempt to wrest it from them."
