(Please scroll down for english version)Christiane Fesers (1977) Arbeiten sind Grenzgänge zwischen Fotografie und Objekt, bei denen die Auseinandersetzung mit Papier als Material und Bildträger verbindendes Element ist. Fotografien von variationsreichen modularen Konstellationen werden in der Serie Partitionen durch manuelle Bearbeitungen zerlegt, verändert und neu zusammenfügt. Dadurch entsteht aus einer zweidimensionalen Fotografie ein skulpturales reliefartiges Werk. Diese faszinierenden Bilder widersetzen sich dem schnellen oberflächlichen Blick - sie verlangen nach ruhiger Betrachtung und intensiverer Analyse. Man möchte ihre Bilder anfassen, um sie im Wortsinne begreifen oder verstehen zu können, was sich aber angesichts ihrer Fragilität verbietet. Gleichzeitig sind Christiane Fesers Werke spielerisch leicht und in hohem Maße ästhetisch.Fragen nach Bild und Abbild, nach den Bezügen zwischen Raum, Fläche und der Bedeutung von Licht kommen ebenso auf wie die seit Walter Benjamin bekannten Überlegungen zu Original und Reproduktion.Diese Publikation stellt die Werkgruppe der Partitionen vor. In den Texten von Steffen Siegel und Mark Durant werden die komplexen Bilder und ihr Entstehungsprozess analysiert und in einen kunstgeschichtlichen Zusammenhang gestellt. Das Buch wurde vom Grafikbüro Pixelgarten, Frankfurt zusammen mit der Künstlerin präzise und kongenial minimalistisch gestaltet und produziert, ein buchgestalterisches Objekt.Crossing the border between photography and art objects, the works of Christiane Feser (1977) interact with paper as a material and as an image support. In the series Partitionen (Partitions) photographs of richly varied modular constellations were manually dissected, modified, and reassembled, producing a sculptural, relief-like work from a two-dimensional photograph. These fascinating images defy a cursory, superficial gaze and demand quiet observation and intensive analysis. One is tempted to touch her images, in order to literally "grasp" or understand them, but this is impossible due to their fragility. Christiane Feser's works are both playfully light and deeply aesthetic. They raise questions about images and copies, and about the connections between space, surface, and the meaning of light, bringing to mind Walter Benjamin's famous reflections about originals and reproductions.This publication presents the series Partitionen. Essays by Steffen Siegel and Mark Durant analyze the complex images and the process of their creation and place them in an art-historical context. The precisely and minimalistically designed book-object was created and produced by the Frankfurt-based graphic-design studio Pixelgarten in close collaboration with the artist.
