Leitbegriffe Dietels, wie "Gebrauchspatina" und "das offene Prinzip", haben bis heute nichts von ihrer Bedeutung verloren, und "poetisch-funktionale" Formen, wie er sie mit Lutz Rudolph für Heliradio, Wartburg und Trabant, Simson Suhl oder Robotron als freiberuflicher Gestalter entwickelte, zählen zu den bleibenden, herausragenden Werken der Ostmoderne.Karl Clauss Dietel (geb.1934) als freischaffender Gestalter in Zusammen- arbeit mit Lutz Rudolph für private und verstaatlichte Betriebe in der DDR tätig; Bundesdesignpreis 2014.Lutz Rudolph (1936-2011) arbeitete am Zentralinstitut für Gestaltung in Berlin und als freiberuflicher Gestalter von 1968 bis 2000.The work of designer Karl Clauss Dietel explores the potential of industrial design, which in the GDR period was committed to the ideals of a caring humanist society.
