Sørensen, einer der führenden Vertreter der Tibetwissenschaften, der seit 20 Jahren als Professor am Institut für Indologie und Zentralasienwissenschaften der Universität Leipzig lehrt. Die thematische Vielfalt der Tibet- und Himalaya bezogenen Studien spiegelt das breite Interessensgebiet des Jubilars; gleichzeitig ist der Sammelband in vielen Fragen repräsentativ für den heutigen Forschungsstand zu Geschichte, Religion, Ethnologie, Literatur, Archäologie und Kunst in Tibet. Zahlreiche Abbildungen sowie ein ausführlicher, dem Gelehrten- und Forscherleben des Jubilars gewidmeter Einleitungsteil komplettieren die Festschrift.

Dr. habil Guntram Hazod (b. 1956)
is a social anthropologist, senior researcher at the Austrian Academy of Sciences' Institute for Social Anthropology (ISA). His research focus is on History and Anthropology of Early Tibet and the Himalayan Region.

Dr. Olaf Czaja (b. 1969)
is a Tibetologist, who works on Tibetan history, art and medicine. He is currently a research fellow at the University of Westminster, London.
