Das Künstlerbuch als kollektive Praxis
Die HuMBase ist ein kultureller Veranstaltungsort und Atelierhaus, das sich seit Juni 2018 als eine experimentelle Plattform für Kulturschaffende unterschiedlicher Disziplinen etabliert hat. In einer verlassenen Kirche Stuttgarts fand das HuM-Collective diesen Experimentierraum für seine transdisziplinaren Projekte.
Das jüngste Projekt When the seed considered planting itself ist der Versuch, den experimentellen Charakter des Ortes in die Buchform zu übertragen. Es versammelt 26 Kulturschaffende: Künstler*innen, Musiker*innen, Kurator*innen, Autor*innen und Regisseur*innen wurden eingeladen, die Seiten der Publikation frei zu bespielen. Neben den gesammelten Beitragen der Beteiligten dokumentiert das Buch die Ausstellungen und Kulturveranstaltungen. Das kollektive Publikationsprojekt ist ein Portrat des Programms von HuMBase, das sich durch seine kreative Multiperspektivitat auszeichnet.
Neben den 26 Kurzbiografien der beteiligten Künstler*innen enthalt das Buch ein Vorwort der Herausgeber*innen und einen Essay von Lukas Ludwig.
The Artist's Book as Collective Practice
HuMBase is a cultural event venue and studio space that has established itself since June 2018 as an experimental platform for creatives working in a range of cultural disciplines. An abandoned church building in Stuttgart has served the HuM design collective as the versatile setting of its transdisciplinary projects.
The most recent project, When the seed considered planting itself, is an attempt to translate the venue's experimental quality into the book format. It gathers 26 creative minds: artists, musicians, curators, writers, and directors were invited to give their ideas free rein in its pages.
Besides the collected contributions from the participants, the book documents the collective's exhibitions and cultural events. The collaborative publication project is a portrait of HuMBase's program, which stands out for its multiplicity of creative perspectives.
