The two long essays that make up this book are dedicated to the work of Giorgio Grassi and to "The Architecture of the City", the text published by Aldo Rossi in 1966.

baukuh is a firm of architects composed by Paolo Carpi, Silvia Lupi, Vittorio Pizzigoni, Giacomo Summa, Pier Paolo Tamburelli, and Andrea Zanderigo. baukuh won international competitions in Amsterdam (2003), Budapest (2003), Genoa (2009), Turin (2010) and Milan (2011). baukuh took part in the 3rd and 5th Rotterdam Biennale (2007, 2012) and in the 11th and 13th Venice Biennale (2009, 2012), and was part of the research group for the Dutch National History Museum (2011). baukuh recently completed two residential buildings in Tirana (Albania) and a pavilion in Vezzano (Italy) and is currently building the House of Memory in Milan.
