New York City 2020 - artist Nancy Goldring makes drawings that capture a city in quarantine, meditations on this moment in time and history. She descirbes in words and pictures; first being locked in, then venturing forth to run errands, and watching as the streets begin to slowly fill up again: the crowds angry at the murder of George Floyd and many others killed by the police, but also people simply trying to return to the lives »they used to live«. She walks for hours and days through the city, her city, trying to fathom what this strange chaos is about, until she arrives at a peculiar old boat docked along the Hudson. She begins to discover the purpose of the barge and work carried out by the group of men aboard. Sie beschreibt, wie sie zuerst eingeschlossen war, dann sich vorsichtig hinauswagte, wieder Besorgungen erledigend und die Straßen sich allmählich mit Menschen füllten: Wütenden Menschen angesichts des Mordes an George Floyd und so vielen anderen durch die Polizei; aber auch Menschen, die versuchen, einfach ein Leben zu führen, so »wie es einmal war«. Stunde um Stunde, Tag für Tag läuft sie durch die Stadt, ihre Stadt, und versucht herauszufinden, was all dieses Chaos zu bedeuten hat, bis sie zu einem eigenartigen, alten Boot kommt, das am Pier des Hudson-Rivers liegt. Artist, Nancy Goldring was born in 1945. Her work combines graphic, photographic, and projected material to produce what she calls "foto-projections". She lives and works in New York City, and is professor emerita at Montclair State College.Die Künstlerin Nancy Goldring wurde 1945 geboren. In ihrer Arbeit kombiniert sie graphische, fotografische und projizierte Materialien, um das zu erschaffen, was von ihr als »Foto-Projektionen« bezeichnet wird. Sie lebt und arbeitet in New York City und ist emeritierte Professorin am Montclair State College.
