Whoever loves the mountains will inevitably come to Berchtesgaden someday. Because this region with Königssee, Watzmann and the famous picture of the Ramsau church in front of the mighty cliffs of the Reiteralm is one of the most famous areas in the Alps. Rightly so! Because here you can experience the mountains in an unbelievable variety - from small walks along lively streams to demanding suspended summit ascents. Berchtesgaden also has a lot to offer historically! For centuries, this small village was directly subordinate to the Pope and over time, it developed due to the rich salt deposits to an economic giant next to Salzburg. Even a very dark chapter of German history took place here in the idyll. Adolf Hitler lived on the Obersalzberg from 1927 and had it extended to the alpine fortress until 1945.All year long it is worthwhile to be here on the way - even if the weather does not play along.
