"This finding is a clear indication that international competition is nowadays coined by a glocal (global/local) reorientation and at the same time is perceived as having become much more intense and tougher. At any local spot of the world foreign competitors can challenge the locally operating domestic economy. At the same time the businesses in this domestic economy can, from a global perspective, feel forced to intrude with their own products - or even with foreign direct investments (FDI) - actively and aggressively the respective home markets of their competitors. For a growing number of multinational corporations business sets the stage to acquire global competences for a successful competition in order to gain bigger "global market shares". In former times it was generally sufficient to concentrate on a few foreign markets with limited competition pressures. The format of contemporary cross-border business activities has changed tremendously, forcing corporations increasingly into a much tougher competition of Global Rivalry in a fully grown up Global Business...."
