Bereits in den 80er Jahren hielt Hendrik ''ECB'' Beikirch erstmals eine Sprühdose in den Händen. Er verwendete sie als Instrument, um seine Spuren auf Zügen zu hinterlassen. Schließlich widmete er sich voll und ganz der legalen Kunst und tauschte das Metall gegen Leinwand und Fassaden ein. Von da an bestand die einzige Verbindung zur illegalen Vergangenheit in seinem Pseudonym - den drei Buchstaben, die Vor- und Nachnamen verbinden.
Heute ist Beikirch vor allem für seine bemerkenswert persönlichen Portraits bekannt, die Leinwände und ganze Hochhauswände zieren und dabei ihre ganz eigene Geschichte erzählen.
Das Buch Blurring Boundaries dokumentiert auf 208 Seiten Beikirchs Werke der letzten Jahre, angefangen von seinen Arbeiten im Atelier bis hin zu Wandgemälden in Rekord-Dimensionen. So hinterließ er in der südkoreanischen Millionenstadt Busan mit einer Höhe von 70 Metern das höchste Mural Asiens.
Eindrucksvoll nimmt er den Betrachter mit auf eine sehr persönliche Reise über alle Grenzen der Kunst hinaus.

Hendrick Beikirch, or ECB, is seeking to change our perception of what graffiti is, or can be - extending its limits. ECB is a German painter working on largescale
black and white, or grayscale murals in public spaces worldwide. This new book is a compilation of the artists work, and provides insight of that work through photographs and interviews. ECB looks for new approaches, and blurs the lines between fine art and graffiti. The scale of his outdoor murals, often of anonymous faces, makes the work accessible to the masses. The astounding scale is made evident in one
of his best-known works, Where there is no struggle, there is no strength. Located in Busan, South Korea, the mural of a local fisherman is over 20 stories and measures 70 metres high, making it Asias tallest mural.
Photographs in the book show the work in progress, as well as its context, which is situated against Busans skyscraper backdrop. Blurring Boundaries is an intimate photographic look at ECBs process, body of work and the people who inspire him.
