Gunther von Hagens, geb. 1945, studierte Medizin und promovierte an der Universität Heidelberg. 1977 erfindet er hier die Plastination, eine neuartige Konservierungsmethode für anatomische Präparate. Er patentierte das Verfahren und legte somit den Grundstock für seine weitere Entwicklung. 1994 gründete er das Institut für Plastination, das plastinierte Präparate für Ausbildungszwecke und für die KÖRPERWELTEN liefert. Er ist u.a. Gastprofessor an der Universität New York und Dalian/VR China. Zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Publikationen.Angelina Whalley, geb. 1960, studierte Medizin an der Freien Universität Berlin und schloss Ihr Studium an der Heidelberger Universität ab. Hier lernt Sie Gunther von Hagens kennen, die beiden heiraten 1992. Die approbierte Ärztin ist Direktorin des Instituts für Plastination und konzipiert die KÖRPERWELTEN Ausstellungen, welche erstmals 1995 in Japan gezeigt werden. Bis heute haben über 30 Millionen Menschen in Städten Europas, Asiens und Nordamerikas die Ausstellungen besucht.
