Die Fotografin Mila Teshaieva hat während eines mehrjährigen Aufenthaltes Menschen auf der Insel Föhr gesprochen, beobachtet und fotografiert. Sie hat Fotos gemacht, die die Menschen bei ihrer Arbeit, im Gespräch oder im häuslichen Umfeld zeigen. Mit ihren künstlerischen Ausdrucksmitteln entstanden dabei ganz besondere Bilder, die eine beinahe mystische Präsenz vermitteln. Eine Ausstellung mit Gegenständen aus dem Lebensalltag der Porträtierten, mit historischen Fotografien und mit Interviews ergänzt hier nun die Aufnahmen von Mila Teshaieva. Von großer Bedeutung für die friesische Identität sind die Sprache und die Tracht, die zu besonderen Anlässen bis heute getragen wird. Welche Rolle spielen Traditionen und die Sprache Friesisch für das Selbstverständnis der nationalen Minderheit der Friesen? Gespräche mit den Inselbewohnern spiegeln ihr Leben, ihre Gedanken und Haltungen wider. During a stay of several years on the island of Föhr, the photographer Mila Teshaieva spoke with, observed and took pictures of the people living there. She photographed them at work, when conversing with others, and in their domestic surroundings. With her artistic means of expression, Ms. Teshaieva created special images, which impart an almost mystic impression. The present exhibition of her works is accompanied by objects from the daily life of those persons portrayed, by historical photographs and by interviews. Of great significance for Frisian identity are the language and the traditional costumes, which are still worn on special occasions today. What role do traditions and the Frisian language play in the self-identity of the national Frisian minority? Discussions held as part of the exhibition reflect aspects of the lives, thoughts and opinions of Föhr's inhabitants.
