Hanau made (architectural) history before that though: Calvinist refugees founded Neu-Hanau around the year 1600 and created checkered streets. Art historian Anja Zeller presents the most beautiful places in Hanau and its most interesting personalities, many of which wonderfully pictured by photographer Doris Schneider.
