This book provides insight into the evolution and status quo of the youth employment situation in 13 OECD countries. In addition to the state of the labor market for young people, the survey centers on the phases of transition from school to work as well as the institutional design of the labor market itself, in vocational education and in active youth employment policy. The report also focuses on recent reform projects to combat youth unemployment and the description of best practices with the same objective. The countries surveyed are Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Alexander Schumann and Eric Thode are project managers of the economic division at the Bertelsmann Stiftung.
