Oftwird zu fru heren Arbeiten zuru ckgekehrt,werden diese dann rekontextualisiertund in neue Zusammenhänge u berfu hrt.Ihre Werke fungieren als Spuren, Reenactmentsund Karten, welche dieAbstraktionen und kognitiven Prozesseherausarbeiten, mit denen der Betrachterfunktionale Analogien zwischen Realitätund Darstellung ziehen kann. Die Projektehinterfragen, was Wissen ist, wie es erworbenwird und inwiefern es möglich ist, einThema oder eine Entität u berhaupt zu erkennen.Die Geschichten, auf denen dieWerke aufbauen, sind vielfach emblematischund mit globalen Kreisläufen verbunden.Damit stellt Mahony die Übertragbarkeitund Übersetzbarkeit von Phänomenenwiederum infrage.
Just as their collaborative approach allows for divergent viewpoints to triangulate an idea, the works of Mahony are the accumulation of an overlay of distinct positions. Always accentuating the ways their projects take on different properties in different contexts, Mahony refuses to let their objects become dormant or calcified, often returning and recontextualizing previous works into new constellations and arrangements. Their objects function as traces, evidence, reenactments, and maps, elaborating the abstractions and cognitive processes that allow us to create functional correspondences between reality and representations. Their projects question what knowledge is, how it is acquired, and the possible extent to which a given subject or entity can be known. Often their works deal with the representation of space and culture, the mappings and ideological images that convey information within and outside sites. The stories and objects they draw from often have emblematic ties to global and historical circulation and exchange, which the group extendsand inverts so as to question the transferability and translatability of phenomena from one context into another.
