The author, Dr Eckehard Korthals, is a well-known German historian who apart from some weighty tomes about "The Windsors" and "Scotland" also wrote several jokebooks in English. Among other things they deal with London, one of the most fascinating cities in the world. But all glitters is not gold. The author makes fun of the sleaze, corruption and sex scandals of politicians, bankers, priests and royals behind London's amiable facade of glamour and glitter. A city tour guide's funny stories, satirical comments and jokes about London's famous sights often stick longer in your mind than lengthy lectures or books based on historical research.
