Die Kunst Andreas Schulzes war und ist im besten Sinne des Wortes unzeitgemäß. Nie hat er sich um die Trends im Betriebssystem Kunst geschert. Schulze malt Dinge, eigentümlich großformatige, farbintensive Motive mit Ornamenten, Kugeln, quadratischen und rechteckigen Formen, meist perspektivisch angelegt. Und er gestaltet Räume, Wohnzimmer mit Mobiliar, Lampen, Teppichen und Geschirr. Es sind Einblicke in eine altmodisch-naive Welt deutscher Gemütlichkeit, ein Design fernab modernistischer Vorstellungen.
Die vorgelegte umfangreiche Monographie ist der Versuch, dem Phänomen Andreas Schulze auf die Spur zu kommen und seine Arbeit im Kontext postmoderner Kunstpraxis zu begreifen.

The art of Andreas Schulze was and is, in the most positive sense of the word, outmoded. He has never cared about the trends in the operating system of art. Schulze paints things; idiosyncratic, large-format, colour-intense motifs with ornaments, spheres, square and rectangular forms, mostly in a perspective style. He designs living rooms with furniture, lamps, carpets and crockery: insights into an old-fashioned, naïve world of German cosiness, a design far away from modernist ideas.
This extensive monograph is the endeavour to investigate the phenomenon that is Andreas Schulze and to comprehend his work in the context of post-modern artistic practise.
