Gerhard Finckh studierte von 1974 bis 1987 an der Ludwig Maximilians-Universität, München, 1987 Promotion. 1987-1990 Direktor der Kunsthalle in Emden - Stiftung Henri Nannen, danach Ausstellungsleiter des Museum Folkwang Essen; seit 2000 Direktor des Museums Morsbroich, Leverkusen.
