Description
Is urban space equally accessible and experienceable for everyone? What role do the police and social work play in this? The book empirically examines how these institutions constitute and organise space through their actions, thereby (co-)structuring social participation. It explores dynamics of inclusion and exclusion, the interplay between spatial configurations and structural categories, and the situated production of publicness and privacy. Through contrastive analysis, the concept of social work as an urban practice emerges - emancipatory, critical, and oriented towards participation.
