The authors analyse - sometimes from a comparative angle - selected issues, taking into consideration a number of perspectives: phraseological, semantic, pragmatic, lexicographical, orthographical and textual. The contributors investigate metaphorical expressions, idioms, proverbs and speech acts. Furthermore, they focus on terminology used in law and mathematics, as well as on different text genres, ranging from private letters via legal texts to memes. Ewa Komorowska is a titular professor at the Institute of Linguistics, University of Szczecin, Poland. She is the author and co-author of numerous works on Polish-Russian comparative linguistics, phraseology, pragmalinguistics and intercultural communication. Danuta Stanulewicz is associate professor at the Institute of English and American Studies, University of Gdansk. Poland. Her research focuses on semantics (mainly colour vocabulary and metaphors) and sociolinguistics (endangered languages).
