When thirteen year old Abby pretends to take an interest in tropical fish to help her grieving father, she meets Kat Hatfield, the woman who owns the local tropical fish shop. From that moment, their lives will never be the same. Kat has left a violent husband and is afraid to start a new relationship. With Abby's help, she learns how to leave the past behind. Unfortunately, things don't go as smoothly as either Abby or Kat would have liked. In this first novel, Linda Lewis uses her knowledge of tropical to great effect. Each chapter starts with a paragraph about fish that acts as an itroduction to what follows.
