Although research has shown that 14ers are highly valued from an economic perspective, there is a lack of environmental assessments of these fragile environments. The purpose of this study is to assess the environmental conditions with respect to soils and vegetation data to determine if these areas can sustain high volumes of hikers and potenially serve as a means to diversify the economies of surrounding areas.
