A viable and sustainable alternative that can ensure the bridging of the yawning gap between fish supply and demand therefore lies in aquaculture which offers vast opportunities for investment. Aquaculture production can be increased substantially by adopting a technological shift from semi intensive to intensive systems of production as is the trend worldwide. This book aims at enlightening and encouraging the public to invest in fish-farming based on the use of simple technology of Water Flow-through Systems (WFS) and Water Recirculating System (WRS), for fish production in concrete tanks. The system can be set up in urban or peri- urban premises of little space that is easily manageable and adequately profitable with guaranteed good returns on investment. It targets a wide audience from school leavers to university students and graduates, civil servants, retirees and practicing fish farmers. It is a complete reference book on WFS and WRS in Africa and includes basic material on health management, fluid mechanics, monitoring & control systems, waste management, fish nutrition and aquaponics.
