Tejpat is a kind of leafy spice obtained from a number of Cinnamomum spp. of which C. tamala is the 'genuine source of commerce'. Shillong of NE IND is the main market of tejpat from where it is transported to other parts of the country/abroad. The Cinnamomum has a centre of diversity in Eastern Himalaya & the adjoining regions of NE IND. Extensive R & D works on Tejpat are completed/going on in NE IND & also in other parts of the world. But not a single compilation of those works in the form of a monograph is available so far.
