The book tells about research as a major function of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).The frontiers of new knowledge are explored once it is given more attention. Through research, new technologies which will help improve the life of our people, may be discovered and explored.The task of re-engineering, re-inventing, and re-structuring in Higher Education Institutions in the Philippine educational system places research on the forefront. The primary mission of HEIs will help hasten public interest and society's demand for development by coping with the challenge of globalization, by performing the foregoing dynamic research and development programs. The role of research in the total development of the country relates closely to its political, economic, social, cultural advancements through research. The thrusts of quality and excellence, access and equity, relevance and responsiveness, and efficiency and effectiveness are perceived as emphasis on the production of new knowledge and the use of the generated ideas and information to elevate the quality of education and the quality of graduates expected to contribute to the attainment of the development goals of the country.
