Stephan Mussil absolvierte die Graphische in Wien und die Fachhochschule Bielefeld für Fotodesign und Malerei. Er ist Mitbegründer der Graphiennale, 1982 gründete er die Stephan Musik Filmproduktion. Stephan Mussil ist Mitglied des Wiener Künstlerhauses.
