Full Description
The 24th edition of "Standards for Blood Banks and Transfusion Services" details the latest standards of practice in blood banking and transfusion medicine. Recognized experts provide input on the new and revised requirements. As in the past, a quality management system is the framework of the standards, with each of the 10 chapter headings representing one of the 10 quality system essentials. Significant changes include: requirement for a written plan for the implementation of ISBT 128 bar code labeling in all accredited facilities, use of ISBT 128 terminology for product names, definition of low-volume red cell collections for 500-ml bags, revised requirements for expiration of platelets, and revised requirements for allogeneic donor qualification.
