Die Publikation stellt eine Hommage an einen der bedeutendsten Bildhauer des 20. Jahrhunderts und sein großes Thema dar: Pferd und Reiter. Die Neuaufstellung von Marino Marinis Skulptur Miracolo - L`idea di un` immagine im Sommer 2005 vor dem Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus in Berlin bildet den Anlass, den die Publikation unter anderem mit einer Fotoserie von Stephan Erfurt würdigt. Mit dem Thema des vom Pferd stürzenden Reiters, dem Miracolo, hat sich Marino Marini in seinen Skulpturen und Grafiken über 30 Jahre lang auseinander gesetzt. Der reich illustrierte Band verfolgt nicht nur die thematische und künstlerische Entwicklung dieses Motivs, sondern spürt auch die verschiedenen Varianten dieser bedeutenden Skulptur an ihren weltweiten Standorten auf.

Thispublication is an homage to one of the twentieth century s most importantsculptors and his greatest theme: horse and rider. Marino Marini`s sculpture Miracolo L idea di un immaginewas re-installed in the summer of 2005 in front of the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus in downtown Berlin, and this seemed to be the right occasion to pay tribute to the artist with this book, which also includes a photo series by Stephan Erfurt. For over thirty years, Marini has returned continuously to the theme of a rider falling from a horse the Miracolo exploring it in both sculpture and works on paper. The richly illustrated volume not only pursues the thematic and artistic development of this motif, but also tracks the different variations of these important sculptures in situaround the world.
