Mit der Darstellung einer methodisch fundierten 'Charakteristik des Corpus Hermeticum', die Wissensgeschichte, Form und Inhalt berücksichtigt, schafft der Band die Voraussetzung für die extensive und systematische Erforschung der Wirkungsgeschichte der hermetischen Textsammlung (Bände II-V). Der Verfasser zeichnet die wissensgeschichtlichen und formalen Grundlagen nach, um in einem zweiten Schritt die Charakteristik des hermetischen Denkens herauszuarbeiten, die als Lehre des Corpus Hermeticum zur Darstellung kommt.

Through the presentation of a methodologically grounded 'Charakteristik des Corpus Hermeticum', which takes into consideration the history of Hermetic knowledge, form and con-tent, the present volume lays the foundation for the extensive and systematic study in volumes II to V, on the history of the impact of the philosophical Hermetica in the western tradition.
