This volume contains Fichte's lectures held between May 1811 and August 1812. These include a particularly well written version of a series of lectures, designed as an introduction into the business of philosophy, on the determination of the nature and the duties of a scholar as well as the lectures on the only two special disciplines which Fichte had on his agenda in Berlin: jurisprudence and ethics. This is a new publication of these lectures, the manuscripts of which were re-examined, and also includes the transcripts of Fichte's colleagues. A detailed introduction explains the individual kinds of lectures within Fichte's system of theories. Johann Gottlieb Fichte wurde 1762 in Rammenau geboren und starb 1814 in Berlin. Er wuchs in ärmlichen Verhältnissen auf. Sein Studium der Theologie finanzierte er größtenteils als Hauslehrer. 1790 kam er mit den Schriften Immanuel Kants in Kontakt, die seine "Wissenschaftslehre" strak beeinflussten.
