Description
In 1875, Arnold Janssen founded the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), a missionary order which, in addition to philosophical and theological education, also cultivated an interest in the positive sciences, in particular the study of non-European cultures. The ethnological journal "Anthropos" (1906) and the sinological journal "Monumenta Serica" (1935) emerged from this tradition of the society. This volume contains a selection of articles published in these journals over the last 100 years, which the editors consider to be most representative of one of the Society's current organizational goals, namely intercultural and interreligious dialogue in a globalized world. With contributions byHenri Bernard S.J. | Irene Eber | Martin Gusinde | Matthias Hermanns | Jia Jinhua | Anna Meiser | Jean Michaud | P.
