Description

In the literature on C.G. Jung's psychology, the visual and narrative dimensions of perception and expression are explored in depth. The author, an experienced music therapist with a deep psychological orientation, examines their connection to the acoustic-musical realm of reality, considering it both an experiential domain and a world of symbolic meaning. When Jung encountered music therapy later in life, he recognized its profound psychotherapeutic potential and foresaw a promising future for the field. C. G. Jung considered music respectfully because he experienced it as a strong archetypical energy. He was shure that it would not exclude his theory of the archetypes. Encountering Music Therapy in old age he realised the great therapeutic potential of this medium he prophesided a great future to it.

In the literature on the psychology of C. G. Jung the visual and narrative fields of perception and expression are researched and described in a detailed and profound way. Jung used artistic design activities on himself and his patients as a therapeutic method. Thinking about the accoustic level of reality as a world of experiences and symbols however is comparatively rare. The author, a deep psychological orientated Music Therapist, presents this subject from different aspects. The unconscious as a creative space is situated scientifically. Musical symbolizations are regarded in myths, fairy tales, rituals and psychotherapy. Music Therapeutical praxeology is reflected on Jungian considerations, such as individuation as a relationship orientated self-realisation. Prof. Dr. Tonius Timmermann
