The study is dedicated to a detailed evaluation of the existing manuscript evidence of Plato's Nomoi as well as to the explanation of the textual tradition of this work. The mutual relationships of the existing textual witnesses are explored in detail with the intention of determining their role in the reconstitution of the text. At the same time, the focus is on the copyists and scholars who produced, emended and annotated these manuscripts.

antiken Autoren übernommen wurden und manchmal zuverlässigere Lesarten anbieten als diejenigen aus den primären Textzeugnissen.
Diese Arbeit stellt also einen Versuch dar, die platonischen Studien aus der Perspektive der Textkritik sowie Manuskriptforschung zu vertiefen bzw. aufzufrischen und den Text der Nomoi in aller Ausführlichkeit zu untersuchen. Das ist insbesondere relevant angesichts der Tatsache, dass nicht alle vorhandenen Handschriften von diesem Werk kollationiert wurden und dass einige früheren verfügbaren Kollationen nicht immer vertrauenswürdig oder vollständig sind.
