Seit dem 19. Jahrhundert waren Hochfelds erfolgreiche Händler in der Stadt Lemgo. Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts zog ein Familienzweig nach Hamburg. Nach 1933 emigrierten Hochfelds nach Großbritannien, USA, Palestina und Südafrika. Die in Deutschland gebliebenen Familienmitglieder starben im Holocaust. 2017 zeigte das Lemgoer Museum eine Ausstellung zur Geschichte der Hochfelds; zur Eröffnung trafen sich 59 Nachfahren aus 7 Ländern in 5 Kontinenten. 2019 wurde die Ausstellung im Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre gezeigt.
