Following her photographic work on adolescence, Carolin Schüten became interested in how an individual's life develops. How does someone become happy? How can they realise their potential? How do they become the person they are meant to be? Schüten is always driven by her interest in learning more about people's emotional state in various phases of life and exploring these through her images; it is based on the belief that you can see something on the outside that speaks to what lies inside. The photographs are juxtaposed with personal statements by the subjects. Meanwhile, a text on the subject of happiness research by biographical researcher Anne Schlüter provides a deeper insight into this topic.
