Murcia ist eine sonnenverwöhnte Region an der spanischen Mittelmeerküste. Seit Jahrtausenden zieht sie die Menschen an. Heute verbringen Deutsche und Briten ihren Ruhestand in der Gegend. Arbeitskräfte aus dem östlichen Europa, Afrika und Südamerika schuften in der Agrarindustrie. Der Fotograf Göran Gnaudschun bereiste Murcia im Jahr 2020 für die Ausstellung Murcia: Im Garten Europas des Museums Europäischer Kulturen - Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Er spürte der Migration in die Region nach und porträtierte Zugewanderte mit ihren Träumen und Lebensrealitäten. Die Fotografien und drei begleitende Artikel öffnen ein Fenster in eine bisher kaum bekannte Gegend Europas - in die Gegenwart der spanischen Region Murcia.

Murcia is a sun-drenched region on the Spanish Mediterranean coast that has attracted people for thousands of years. Today, Germans and Brits spend their retirement in the area. Workers from eastern Europe, Africa and South America toil in the agricultural industry. In 2020, photographer Göran Gnaudschun travelled to Murcia for the exhibition Murcia: In Europe's Garden from the Museum Europäischer Kulturen - Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. He traced migration to and from the region and portrayed immigrants with their dreams and realities of life. The photographs and three accompanying articles offer a window into a formerly lesser-known part of Europe - into the present day of the Spanish region of Murcia.
