Description

(Text)
Writing a composition is not a difficult skill to learn. It needs to be explicitly taught. Currently, there are three approaches to teach writing: product, process and genre. In the product approach, teachers focus on accuracy and what the final product should "look" like neglecting the writing processes. The process approach, in contrast, focuses on the processes by which students produce their written products rather than on the products themselves. With direct instruction of particular genres features, students can better understand how to make a piece of writing more effective and appropriate to the communicative purpose. However, this genre approach undervalues the skills needed to produce a text and sees learners as largely passive. This book offers a framework adapted from Willis' task-based learning model incorporating the three approaches mentioned above to develop students' composition writing skills and their attitudes towards EFL writing.
