The 2008 Tsunami and the associated earthquake waves, resulted in massive structural damage and human casualties in Java, Indonesia where the buildings collapsed like domino pieces and the death toll was countless. Throughout this book, the author is trying to provide a structural solution that enhances the building's seismic capacity by ensuring that the structure undergoes a ductile deformation. The author also emphasizes on the importance of the proper detailing of structural connections, considering it as an important factor and where usually failure happens. The author wishes that this book would at least, shed the light on proper structural practices in seismic prone areas and hereby provided his two-cent worth. Ahmed has been always interested in the field of seismology of which he spent over three (3) years researching the seismic wave patterns and hence coming up with innovative engineering solutions. His research project yielded this book, a couple of journal papers, conference article,two gold and one silver medals in science & technology exhibitions.
