The world is facing a paradox of situations.On the one hand,there is rapid increase of technological prowess in the developed north and on the other hand there are disparities in human development like malnutrition and poverty in the under-developed south. The need to rationalize the benefits of Information and Communication technologies for addressing basic issues of human deprivation,viz poverty is the core agenda of this book.The book has been designed in a manner that a person with a non-sociological background can easily understand the problems of resource disconnect which is glaring between the two blocs of our planet.
