Gender is becoming a famous terminology in Tanzania and Africa in general. The terminology was not popular in Tanzania some years back. This book provides a summary of historical background of the term gender and some of its related concepts. The book also provides the information about women empowerment and equal opportunities in decision making in Tanzania. The book also presents the findings of the study which sought the experience of the university students on gender issues at their homes and in schools. The book reveals that the term gender is not well understood even to the educated people. However, the book reveals that culture plays great role in the influence of people's relations in the society, and thus influence gender.

Msoroka, MohamedMohamed Msoroka is an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Dodoma (Tanzania). He has a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education (Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam and a Master of Arts (Ed) from the University of Dodoma. He has already published in various ares with Grin Publishing of Munich (Germany)and LAMBERT Academic Publishing.
