Half of the perinatal and one third of all infant deaths are directly or indirectly related to low birth weight.The increasing concern on low birth weight,as many factors are preventable has prompted to look into the factors associated with LBW. Are there socio-economic risk factors that can be corrected,prevented or atleast modified to allow a more favourable outcome?just as the risk-approach using medical risk factors has helped to decrease the mortality,are these factors(markers)can be used to help focus MCH care better?
