The book mainly focus on the process of the formation of Indian Diaspora (through indentured and kangani systems of labour recruitment).It also emphasizes the different institutions existing among the Indian Diaspora with special reference to Caste. The book points out that there is caste discrimination in the Indian Diaspora as well. It also shows the changing notion of 'caste' in Indian Diaspora that is different from the old to new diaspora. This book offers new insights to the study of diaspora and enriches the existing literature on diasporic communities.
