Der Atlas gibt einen umfassenden Uberblick uber den diagnostischen Aussagewert der Phasenkontrastmikroskopie fur die gynakologische Sprechstundenzytologie am Frischpraparat. Nach einer Einfuhrung in die Anwendungsbereiche der gynakologischen Vitalzytologie verhelfen technische Erlauterungen zur prazisen Handhabung der Methode und des Phasenkontrastmikroskops. Der anschliessende Textteil vermittelt eine straff gegliederte Zusammenfassung der wesentlichen Erkennungsmerkmale der Einzelzellen und des Gesamtzellbildes unter physiologischer hormoneller Stimulation und deren endogen oder iatrogen ausgelosten Abweichungen, unter bakterieller Besiedelung und im Laufe der Karzinogenese. Es folgen Beschreibungen von Nebenbefunden, sekundaren Zellveranderungen und Artefakten. In gleicher Reihenfolge sind im angeschlossenen Bildteil 143 meist grossformatige Mikroskopaufnahmen typischer Zellen und Zellverbande dargestellt.
