Gösta Mittag-Leffler (1846-1927) was an outstanding personality as a scientist and entrepreneur. His influence extended far beyond him being regarded as the "father of Swedish mathematics" through his manifold international contacts in science, business and art. His influence was crucial to Marie Curie being awarded the Nobel Prize twice. His biography contains many hitherto unknown facts of Mittag-Leffler's life and work. Original Norwegian edition published 2007.

Gösta Mittag-Leffler (1846-1927) played a significant role as both a scientist and entrepreneur. One of Mittag-Leffler's major accomplishments was the founding of the journal Acta Mathematica , published by Institut Mittag-Leffler and Sweden's Royal Academy of Sciences.
