Description
(Text)
Over the last several years, the use of MIDI
instruments and music sequencing software has
increased in music composition and performance as
well as a teaching tool. In traditional music
teaching there is always a need for tools to improve
students listening skills. This book offers an
innovative use of MIDI technology and the Yamaha
Disklavier piano as tools to enhance piano students
understanding of interpretation. Aural feedback of
the Disklavier and visual feedback of MIDI graphs
helped students identify intangible differences in
each of the performances, enabling them to
articulate these by replication and improve their
own performances. The method should be especially
useful to professional pianists and teachers to
analyze and improve their own performances as well
as those of their students.
