Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is an
influential contemporary drift in education. It
refers to every situation where a subject or its part
is taught in a foreign language. The focus of this
work is Mathematics in English. Dedicated both to
theory and CLIL practice, the book provides an
overview of methods and strategies used in CLIL
lessons, linking them to the respective trends in
education. It maps CLIL-related opinions and
attitudes of various Prague secondary school
representatives, analyzes them and formulates the
motivational aspects as well as the diverse obstacles
in the way of wider CLIL implementation. Furthemore,
it features a comprehensive description of a complex
tried and tested CLIL lesson plan, analyzing the
content, linguistic and
cognitive components and anticipated problems. This
analysis a priori is accompanied by an elaborate
teacher''s reflection and students'' feedback.
