Since her immigration from Hungary in 1960, KatinkaDániel has been involved in music education in theUnited States, developing curricula, trainingteachers, teaching students and inspiring countlessindividuals with her knowledge, musical skill,enthusiasm and energy. In Hungary, Dániel wasmentored in her teaching by Jenö Adám, who wrote whatcame to be known in the United States as the KodályMethod. Dániel developed a music curriculum based onthe Kodály concept that is still in use today. Thisbook relates the history of the music methodologyfrom it's beginnings in Hungary as conceived byZoltán Kodály and then adapted for use in the UnitedStates by Katina Dániel. The methodology is describedin detail with references to the interest generatedthrough Dániel's materials and presentations. KatinkaDániel continues to inspire music educators with herteaching, her published materials and her story. Thisbook is of interest to teachers, students andresearchers interested in the heritage of the Kodályconcept of music education in the United States.

Bonnin is Associate Professor of Music Education atthe University of Montana Western, Dillon and administers themusic education program in addition to directing the Choir andVocal Ensemble. Dr. Bonnin also serves as clinician, workshopleader and adjudicator in Montana and the Northwest region.
